undetectable equals untransmittable. three letters that undo forty years of fear.
U=U isn't a slogan I printed because it looked good on a shirt. It's the most important sentence in HIV in a generation, and most people still haven't heard it.
I make this work because stigma outlives the science. People living with HIV are still treated as a risk they no longer are. Every piece I print is a small act of setting that record straight.
This is personal, and it is public health. Queer people deserve to know the truth about their own bodies, and to wear it loud.
What U=U actually means.
Undetectable.
When someone living with HIV takes their medication and keeps the virus suppressed, standard tests can no longer find it in their blood. That state is called an undetectable viral load.
Equals untransmittable.
At an undetectable level, HIV cannot be passed to a sexual partner. Years of large international studies recorded zero transmissions. Undetectable means zero. Not low risk. Zero.
Settled science.
This is the shared position of the CDC, the NIH, and the world's leading health bodies. Treatment is prevention, and the evidence is not in question.
